Why I Built DögEar

Short video is everywhere, but it always felt strangely placeless. The same algorithm serves the same clips to everyone, and none of it has anything to do with where you actually are.

I wanted to see what people in my city were watching. What's blowing up two towns over. What a feed looks like when it's shaped by a real place and the people in it, instead of one giant recommendation engine.

So I built DögEar: a short-video feed organized by city, ranked by the people who live there. Watch what's rising near you, vote on the best, and share the videos you find worth passing along.
